Greece joined CLARIN ERIC

Submitted by Linda Stokman on

We are happy to announce that in February 2015 Greece has joined CLARIN !

Greece states that their participation in CLARIN ERIC will enable the seamless integration of Greek content, resources and services in the European infrastructure and, vice versa, it will support the integration of European content, resources and services in the Greek . In this way, the Greek research community, notably the Social Sciences and Humanities community, will have access to a much broader range and variety of resources and services, the interconnection of which will constitute a key facilitator for transnational research.

The Greek participation in the ERIC will empower Greek scholars working on one or more of the multiple roles language plays – as carrier of cultural content and knowledge, instrument of communication, component of identity and object of study – to meet new research opportunities being introduced by the ever growing and accessible data collections and novel combinations of existing services.

Stelios Piperidis has been appointed as the Greek National Coordinator, also acting as the national expert at the CLARIN ERIC General Assembly. Maria Gavrilidou is the Deputy National Coordinator.
